Editing and Managing Project Recurrence

Learn how to edit, pause, resume, and manually generate recurring projects in Xenett.

Updated over a month ago

Overview

Once a recurring project is created, you can manage its recurrence at any time. This includes editing recurrence settings, pausing or resuming the project, and manually generating the next recurring project when needed.

Use Cases

  • When project timelines or deadlines change.

  • When recurrence rules need adjustment due to business or scheduling updates.

  • When future project cycles need to follow a new due date logic.

How to Edit Project Recurrence

Option 1: Edit from the Project Title

  1. Click the project title.

  2. In the Next Project Details section, click the Edit (✏️) icon.

  3. An edit popup will appear with the recurrence details.

Option 2: Edit from the Project Header

  1. In the project header, click the three-dot (⋯) menu.

  2. Select Edit Recurrence.

Editable Recurrence Fields

Start On

  • Defines when the project begins.

  • Used to organize tasks and schedule the timeline.

  • Not editable once the project is created.

Due Date

  • Defines when the project should be completed.

  • Used to plan and track deadlines.

You can configure the due date using the following rules:

  • No due date

  • Days after start date

  • Number of days to complete

  • Specific month

  • Last day of the month

  • Day of the following month

  • Specific day of the month after the start date

Recur On

  • Specifies how many days before the start date the next project should recur.

  • Used to automatically generate upcoming project cycles.

Play / Pause Project Recurrence

Sometimes, a recurring project runs like clockwork—until it doesn’t. Maybe the client wants to pause work, or priorities shift. But your project keeps trying to repeat on its usual schedule.

You don’t have to let it run when it’s not needed. You can pause the project, then resume it later when the time is right.

Where to Find It

  • The Action column appears in the project listing.

  • Click the three-dot (⋯) menu to pause or resume recurrence.

When a Project Is Paused

  • The project will stop recurring from that point onward.

  • No new recurring projects will be generated.

  • The recurrence remains paused until manually resumed.

When a Project Is Resumed

A popup will appear with:

  • details of the recurrence being resumed, and

  • a list of recurrences skipped during the pause so you can choose which ones to create.

  • Click Resume to resume recurrence and generate the selected skipped projects.

Create Next Project Now (Manual Generation)

You can manually generate the next recurring project before its scheduled recur date

Use Cases

  • When work needs to start earlier than the scheduled recurrence date.

How to Access

  • Option 1 :

    • Go to the project listing.

    • Click the Action column’s three-dot (⋯) menu.

    • Select Create Next Recurrence Project.

  • Option 2 : Click the three-dot (⋯) menu to Create Next Recurrence Project.

Once generated, the recurrence automatically moves to the next cycle.

What Happens When You Manually Generate

  • The next recurring project is created immediately.

  • Once created, the recurrence automatically moves to the next cycle.
