Overview
Many accounting tasks repeat on a regular schedule—such as weekly bookkeeping, monthly payroll, or quarterly reviews. Instead of creating the same project every time, Xenett allows you to enable project recurrence so projects are created automatically.
Recurring projects help firms save time, stay organized, and ensure important deadlines are never missed.
What Is Project Recurrence?
Project recurrence allows a project to repeat automatically based on a schedule you choose. Each recurring project follows the same structure, tasks, and settings unless you make changes.
This is ideal for ongoing or cyclical client work.
When Should You Use Recurrence?
Use project recurrence when work happens on a predictable schedule.
Common examples include:
Weekly bookkeeping → Weekly recurrence
Monthly payroll processing → Monthly recurrence
Quarterly tax or compliance work → Quarterly or Yearly recurrence
One-time projects such as client onboarding → One Time
Choosing the correct recurrence type ensures projects are created consistently and on time.
How to Set Project Recurrence?
When creating a new project, you will see the Recurrence section on the project form.
Follow these steps:
Select the Recurrence option Choose one of the following:
One Time
Weekly
Bi-Weekly
Semi-Monthly
Monthly
Yearly
2.(Optional) Link to an Accounting Period Enable this option if the project should align with the client’s accounting calendar, such as a monthly close.
3.Set Start and Due Dates These dates define the first occurrence of the project.
4.Define Lead Time (Optional) Specify how many days before the start date the next project should be created. This is useful for early preparation.
5.Click Create The recurring project is now set up. Future projects will be created automatically based on the selected schedule.
What Happens After a Project Recurs?
Each time the project recurs:
A new project is created automatically
Tasks follow the same structure as the original project
Dates adjust based on the recurrence schedule
Recurring projects can be edited or stopped at any time if requirements change.
