Overview
If you route customer payments through Undeposited Funds, this review point helps you clearly understand what makes up your undeposited funds balance at any point in time. Instead of only seeing today’s undeposited payments, you can review the balance and transaction breakdown as of any chosen date.
How to Interpret the Review Results
This review provides a breakdown of the Undeposited Funds balance into the following two categories:
1. Payments Not Deposited as of the Report Date
These are payments that were received but had not been deposited as of the selected report date.
Recommended Actions
Payments with a future deposit date
No action is required. These payments are valid as they are getting deposited in the future period.Investigate payments if they:
Are very old
Have no deposit date
Should have already been deposited
In these cases, review why the payment was not deposited and take corrective action as needed.
2. Deposits with Payments Dated After the Report Date
This scenario typically indicates a data issue. Ideally, a payment date should always be earlier than or equal to the deposit date.
Example
Correct scenario:
Payment Date: 7/28/2025
Deposit Date: 8/3/2025Incorrect scenario (needs investigation):
Deposit Date: 7/29/2025
Payment Date: 8/4/2025This situation is not expected and should be reviewed to ensure the dates are accurate.
