Create Custom Review Point

This article explains what Custom Review Points are, how to create them at the project level, how they work in templates, and how to manage them.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

What Is a Custom Review Point

A Custom Review Point is a rule-based task that scans accounting data using different parameters you define and gives you matching transactions for review.

Beyond the default review points like duplicate entries, entries w/o name, class, location etc, Xenett also lets you create the custom review points based on your needs.

Example of Review Points:

  1. Find transactions in Fixed Assets that are less than $ 2000

  2. Find Bills more than $ 2000, missing copy of bill/attachment

Creating a Custom Review Point in a Project

To create a Custom Review Point directly inside a client project:

  2. Type the name of the Custom Review Point that you wish to create

  3. Click Custom Review Point from the dropdown

  4. Add the criteria and save.

Add the criterias to create the custom review point

Creating Custom Review Points in Templates

The process is slightly different when creating Custom Review Points inside templates, since templates are created at the firm level and are not tied to a specific client.

Key Difference in Templates

  • Templates cannot pull a client’s actual chart of accounts.

  • Review points in templates are driven by account types instead of specific GL accounts.

Using Custom Review Points in a Project

Once a Custom Review Point is created:

  • It appears as a task in the project.

  • Clicking the task shows all matching transactions.

  • You can:

    • Review transactions in detail

    • Take bulk actions (for example, reclassifications)

    • Fix issues directly from Xenett

This makes cleanup and enforcement of accounting rules significantly faster.

Editing an Existing Custom Review Point

If you need to modify a Custom Review Point:

  1. Open the review point task.

  2. Click Edit Criteria.

  3. Update conditions as needed.

  4. Save the changes.

The updated logic is applied immediately.
