If you find yourself recreating the same list of tasks over and over—like for month-end closing, client onboarding, or internal review workflows—you don’t need to start from scratch every time. That’s exactly what task templates are for.
Think of a task template as a ready-to-go tasklist you can drop into any project in just a few clicks. It’s fast, consistent, and helps your team stay aligned without redoing work.
Use Case
Task Templates are ideal for teams that manage recurring or repeatable workflows. Common use cases include:
Month-end or year-end close processes
Client onboarding projects
Cleanup or catch-up accounting projects
Internal review or audit workflows
Instead of manually recreating the same tasks each time, teams can apply a template or copy tasks from an existing project to ensure consistency, save time, and reduce errors.
How to Import Tasks from a Template
Option 1: Import from a Task Template
Open the project where you want to add tasks.
Click the three-dot menu (•••) in the top-right corner.
Select Import Tasks from Template.
Choose a template from the list (only templates matching the project type will appear).
Review the tasks included in the template.
Uncheck any tasks you don’t want to import.
The selected tasks will be added to your project immediately.
Option 2: Import from an Existing Project
If no tasks have been created in the project yet, you’ll also see an option to Import from Project.
Open the new project with no existing tasks.
Click Import from Project.
Select a project from the same client.
Import the tasks.
All applicable tasks, including Review Points and GL Recs, will be imported.
Option 3: Add Tasks from a Template Directly to a Project
Sometimes a required task is discovered after projects are already live. Instead of adding it manually to each project, this option lets you add one or more tasks from a template directly to existing projects and automatically include them in future recurring projects.
Open the template.
Select one or more tasks.
In the bulk action panel, click Add to Project.
Choose the target project from the client-specific project list.
Use search if you have many projects and need help finding the right one.
Impact on Recurring Projects
If the selected projects are set up as recurring:
The task will be added not only to current active projects.
It will also automatically appear in all future projects created from that template.
Important Notes
If a template or project includes Review Points or GL Recs, only items compatible with the connected accounting software (such as QuickBooks) will be added.
Any incompatible Review Points or GL Recs will be skipped automatically.
