Updated over a month ago

1099 Fields allow you to store additional, firm-specific information required for accurate 1099 tracking and reporting.

Instead of relying only on default vendor or 1099 fields, 1099 Fields let you capture meaningful internal details that support compliance, reviews, and reporting within the 1099 workflow.

Examples of Fields

1099 Fields are especially useful when:

  • Say, you want to add a field for Entity Type for Vendor

  • Say, you want to add Text Field to write Internal notes preparation or review

How to Create Custom Fields for 1099

You can create and manage 1099 Fields by navigating to:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Then, Go to Custom fields

  3. Go to 1099 Fields

  4. Create New

Creating a 1099 Field

When creating a 1099 Field, you define several key properties:

  • Field Name – The label your team will see. Example, Entity Type.

  • Field Type – Text, dropdown, number, date, or checkbox. Example, you may select Dropdown and create values like S Corp, Corp, Non Profit etc.

  • Reset Every Year –

    • When enabled, the field value is automatically cleared at the start of each year

    • For example, if it is an entity type custom field, you may not want to reset it every year because the entity type does not change year over year. However, if it is a text field used to store notes for a vendor for a specific year, resetting it annually may make more sens

Once saved, the field becomes available for use within the 1099 Module.
